DIFFERENT TYPES AND FORMS OF WHEY PROTEIN

-

1. Whey protein hydrolysate- A hydrolysate is a protein that has been broken down into its constituent amino-acids. Hydrolysates are expensive and have a bitter taste. 2. Whey protein isolate- A pure form of whey protein that has had almost all lactose removed. This product may be useful for individuals who are lactose intolerant . 3. Whey protein concentrate- The most common for of whey protein. It is inexpensive and can be incorporated into many types of products. In past one of the drawbacks of whey protein concentrate was that it contains a high lactose level. However there are now commercially available formulas that are almost lactose free.
